The results which were released on 27th January 2023 has been highlighted in summary showing an improvement in the performance although there are a number of candidates who failed.
On a sad note a total of 97,109 candidates failed the Primary Leaving Examinations for 2022.
The performance however was better than that of 2020 which was done in 2021 due to COVID19 lockdown effects.
While releasing the results at State House Nakasero in Kampala,the Executive Director of Uganda National Examinations Board Mr Daniel Odongo said a total of 811,810 candidates registered and sat for the PLE 2022 out of the 832,654 who registered.
114,617 passed in division one(first grade), 357,788 passed in division two(second grade), 146,583 passed in division three(third grade) and 95,702 passed in division four (fourth grade) while 97,109 were not graded(division u)
Therefore , a total of 714,702 out of 811,810 who sat for the examinations have passed and can proceed to post Primary education as per UNEB recommendations.
Mr. Odongo stressed that those who were not graded should repeat primary seven so that they can qualify for the good grades.
However in appreciation, he reported that more pupils qualified to join the post Primary education compared to the previous years.
